Building Foundation

Getting the actual BUILDING foundation in was a big step and it felt good to finally be beyond the retaining wall, which had dominated all our work and thoughts for weeks.

A building foundation is fairly straight forward, you dig a trench in the shape of the building walls and fill it with concrete so that block-layers can make walls from a solid, level surface.

As usual, the soft-dirt of Athens came into play and we again poured copious amounts of extra concrete into the building footer.   What's a few hundred extra yards of concrete anyway?

Below are a couple of pictures from the wall footer construction.  More pics are in the galleries, which I'm still getting organized.  This blog software is a little clunky and I'm having trouble getting the pics where I want them.  The next entry will contain a couple of shots of the building footer being poured.
